ABRASIVE WHEELS

INTRODUCTION

Abrasive wheels are used in many industries on both fixed and handheld machines. This course trains personnel in the selection and correct mounting of such wheels. To comply with Health and Safety legislation, and increasingly the requirements of Insurance companies, employers should run this course.

AIM

To enable employees to select and mount abrasive wheels.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the session the participant will be able to:

  1. List the main requirements under the Abrasive wheel regulations.
  2. Describe the construction of an abrasive wheel.
  3. State the criteria for selecting abrasive wheels.
  4. Inspect abrasive wheels for damage and defects.
  5. List the steps for safe mounting of wheels.
  6. Demonstrate the selection, inspection, mounting, and running of an abrasive wheel.
  7. List the hazards, risks and safety precautions in mounting and using abrasive wheels.
